JohnCale

The Welsh born Cale is an iconic musician, composer and record producer best known as a founding member, alongside Lou Reed, of The Velvet Underground.

During their career the Velvet Underground were relatively unsuccessful commercially, however their subsequent influence in rock music history has remained undeniable. Brian Eno once said that although hardly anyone bought their debut album The Velvet Underground & Nico, everyone who did started a band. Talking Heads, R.E.M, Joy Division and Nirvana are just some of the acts who cite the art-rock revolutionaries as an influence.

Since departing The Velvet Underground in 1968, Cale has had a successful solo career spanning over 40 years and 30 albums, collaborating with and producing work for eminent musicians including Patti Smith, John Cage, The Stooges, Manic Street Preachers and LCD Soundsystem.
